Nerve-wracking.
We (read: I) had a nail-biting morning. The sleet and snowflakes fell and the call from the children's home social worker came saying that she wouldn't be braving the icy roads to go to court two hours away. I wanted to know if they would cancel court altogether, but she couldn't answer that for me.
Out we went through the freezing slush to Bookworm's 8 a.m. orthodontist appointment. We watched the big flakes float down while listening to B groan in the chair-she had to get braces on the bottom today, and that wasn't very fun. The radio was calling out the schools that were closing and I made the decision to have a snow day as well, nursing Bookworm's sore mouth with ibuprofen and donuts. Yes, donuts. Goes way against my better judgement, but hey, its January and we are all barely keeping our sanity here. :)
On our way home we stopped in for donuts and then swung into the library for an audiobook to listen to in front of the fire. We had our donuts and tea and then commenced the book listening. All this time I am thinking, "Are we terminating today, are we not?"
Cheery was not too taken with the book, so ran up to get her Pollydoll suitcase (thanks Aunt Laurie!) and played with those at the table. The phone rang several times and I caught it on the first ring, but it wasn't until 1:10 that J's CASA worker called saying she was heading into court. Bless her! If not for her, I would still be sitting here wondering if the court was even open today!
I have not heard from the lawyer, social worker, or CASA as to what happened today. I am hoping that we hear something tomorrow and don't have to wonder all weekend.
The Lord knows, the Lord knows.

Father,
You are.
You have created all that is and all that will be.
You are worthy of all. You are to be lifted up and exalted by all men.
You are in control of all.
We trust you.
But, Mighty One, we ask, in our own puny, short sighted way, that you grant J a future and a life that will bring honor and glory to you.
We surrender.
We surrender all of our children to your loving and benevolent hands of mercy.
You are their future.
You are their hope.
You are their Father.
Blessed be Your Name.
praying for you. we will have the same struggle soon enough. (fostering a newborn)
