By 9 p.m. tonight we will have taken 16 hours of adoption/foster care training in the last five days. That's a lot! Thankfully it puts us well on the way towards making some progress with J's adoption. On Saturday we were able to meet our county adoption specialist and get our 1/2 inch thick application. We will complete that and our physicals, then hopefully we can get this show on the road.
J has a "staffing" on April 22 that one of us will try to attend. A staffing is a meeting with all the "team players" - case workers, social workers, adoption specialists and foster parents. We discuss the status and goals of the case and see what needs to be accomplished and brought to the next hearing. I hope to have our file mostly, if not entirely complete by that date so that maybe we can set an adoption hearing date. Not sure if that is the order of things, but I hope to have everything in order on our end so that we can move through this process as quickly as possible.
