Dear Lovey,
Today you turn 9 years old and I can hardly believe it. Yesterday I wrapped my arms around your little frame and held you and held you saying, No, don't grow up, don't do it, I remember your sweet chubby baby self and your soft soft skin and you are getting too big! You just giggled at my silliness.
But I do remember what a sweet, quiet, dear baby you were and how everyone said, "Now, I want a baby like THAT." I could hardly hear you cry even when you were just across the room from me. And you hardly ever cried, so that when you did, we just listened and enjoyed hearing from you. You didn't even roll over until you were almost eight months because you were content to watch and smile at big sister.
And you are still that easy to adore, soft, gentle person. I see you growing up and I love the young lady you are becoming. You are pure of heart and gentle with others' hearts. You nurture and take care.
You began the year by asking to be baptized and Daddy baptized you on January 27. I thought that you would want to do it during the week, but you chose Sunday morning and confessed Jesus as your Lord and Savior in front of the largest crowd I have ever seen for a baptism at our church. The Lord has done mighty things in your life this year and will continue to make you more and more full of His grace and mercy.
You are a wonderful gift from God to your daddy and me. We love you so much. Happy Birthday Lovey!
