I had to laugh out loud this morning when I said to the girls, "Now girls, we are meeting the new DHS social worker today, so I really want us to make a good impression. People judge by first impressions."
Shelby replied, "Does this mean that we're going to pretend that we are doing school?"
Ha! I just about croaked, considering my recent thinking that I need to beef up our routine some.
She went on to say, "No, Mom, I just mean because we don't always do a bunch of school on Friday." Oh, okay. Phew. :)
We did meet with the DHS social worker this morning and I felt blessed to meet with such a nice Christian lady. We visited and she saw the house. She was very pleased with how happy and adjusted J appeared to be to her (and he is) and told us a little about the adoption process. She said that the adoption process can tend to be long, but the fact that J has been with us more than six months is in our favor and may help speed things along. She was not sure whether we would be required to go through the state's adoption training and homestudy, since we are already privately trained. We still pray that our file will be accepted and we will not have to have another homestudy and classes. That could really slow things down.
