I am loving my new laundry system! I have to give credit to a mother of ten who shared her system. It works just as well for a mother of four. For me the worst part of laundry is the folding and putting away. It just seems to go on forever.
Owlhaven shares her laundry system in her comments here. I have been using this system for two weeks now, and I LOVE it. The basic idea is to just wash as you need to - maybe a daily load or two, then when the clothes are dry, hang the shirts that need to be hung immediately, and sort the rest into bins by room. So for my house I have four bins: master bedroom, baby room, girls' room and linens. Everything is laid (not dumped and crushed) into these bins, and folding happens twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. The girls take their bin to their room, sort it into their individual piles, and then each fold and put away their own clothes. I fold for DH and J and put theirs away. I think just knowing I only have to fold and put away two days a week makes laundry feel more manageable. I am always on top of the actual washing, and the laundry is clean in the laundry room if needed before folding day.
Now, if I can just figure out a system for every facet of housekeeping.
