Raising Godly Tomatoes~Loving Parenting with Only Occasional Trips to the Woodshed

Its been a while since I have read a book that has challenged me as much as this one. In fact, about seven years ago when I read Me, Obey Him? may have been the last time. :) Elizabeth Krueger uses her book to explain her method of "tomato staking" in greater detail than on her website, giving many examples from her own life. She expands upon a "tomato staking lifestyle" as a way to shepherd a child, forming their character by simply being beside them - continuously. What a concept! I am finding out that I have been very hands-off in my parenting - partly out of ignorance, partly from my own selfishness. The latter parts of the book focus on dealing with emotions and feelings, building character, and then, the parents part. I have not even finished the book, but I know truth when I see it...and I know conviction when I feel it. It may be that my summer will be not only be about growing tomatoes in the ground, but in allowing the Lord to grow me and my children in this area.
I recommend this book for any parent who is having obedience issues or any issues at all with their children. The book is available through amazon.com or at a better price through Krueger's website.
